PREPARATORY COURSES
Admission of foreign citizens to study at the V.I. Vernadsky Taurida National University is conducted in accordance with the procedure prescribed by the "Regulation on admission of foreign citizens and stateless persons to study at higher educational institutes", approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on September 5, 1998, No. 1238.
Race, color, political, religious and other beliefs, sex, ethnic and social origin, property status, residence, language and other grounds are not considered when admitting students to TNU.
At the V.I. Vernadsky Taurida National University training of foreign citizens for studying in all specialties, both in Ukrainian, Russian and English, is provided by the Preparatory Faculty.
Curricula and training programs at the Preparatory Department provide further training in higher educational institutions in the areas of engineering, medical, biological, economic, humanitarian.
At the preparatory faculty, study subjects in accordance with the chosen direction:
- Engineering - Russian, Ukrainian or English (by choice of student), mathematics, physics, chemistry, geography.
- Medical biology - Russian, Ukrainian or English (by choice of student), biology, physics, chemistry, geography.
- Economics - Russian, Ukrainian or English (by choice of student), mathematics, economics, country studies.
- Humanitarian - Russian, Ukrainian or English (by choice of student), literature, country studies.
Duration of training at the preparatory department is ten months.
The annual course of study includes two stages - general and specialized.
During the first stage (4-5 months) Russian / Ukrainian language is studied and after that students are divided according to their chosen specialties.
During the second stage (5-6 months) the subjects are studied depend on the chosen specialty.
Students of technical and economic fields are trained in the relevant field of study, as well as on the basics of informatics and computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, drawing, the essentials of economics, economic and social geography. Medical and biology students are also for successful study in higher medical educational institutions: biology, chemistry, physics, the basics of informatics and computer science, mathematics. Students of humanitarian studies are trained in history, geography, literature and the basics of informatics and computer science.
The academic group is international and is made up of 8-10 people. Ukrainian and Russian language teachers are appointed by the curators of the groups. They conduct educational and teaching work (familiarize foreign students with the local conditions of communication, rules of conduct and traditions, visit the hostel, maintain contact with the parents of their students by various means of communication and help the student to adapt to staying in Ukraine).
Graduates of the Preparatory Department receive a certificate, which gives them the right to enter any educational institution of Ukraine on the basis of interviews on a contractual basis.
The issuance of invitations to study, the reception of students' documents, the conclusion of contracts with legal entities or individuals, admission to the Preparatory Department is carried out during the year.
Students of the Preparatory Department are provided with places in a comfortable residential complex. Each block has 2 rooms (for one, two persons) with an individual set of furniture for each inhabitant. Each room has a refrigerator, in each unit - a toilet with a wash basin and a shower room with a wash basin.

The Preparatory Department will organize educational excursions in Kiev and other cities of Ukraine, cultural and sports events. Also study of Russian / Ukrainian language is in out-of-study time. Excursions in Kiev and historic cities of Ukraine, visits to museums, theaters, exhibition halls, all help the student in learning Russian and Ukrainian.
